We have made it easy for every Kiwi business to know their carbon footprint.
So you can take action to reduce it.
Taking the complexity out of taking action.
Kiwi businesses have a responsibility and an opportunity to step up to the climate challenge. But high costs, long wait times and complicated processes mean doing the right thing has been very challenging. Until now.
Developed specifically for a New Zealand context, the Climate Action Label will help you:
Build customer trust and loyalty
Focus on reducing your emissions
Map your carbon footprint, including supply chain
Guide you through purchasing emission offsets
Co-create a clear carbon reduction pathway that fits your business
Take real action on the climate crisis
-

How the Climate Action Label Works
This independently provided label ensures the Climate Actions taken by an organisation are clear and transparent. The Label is backed by a robust methodology and six step framework.
Calculate
What gets measured, gets managed. First, your Carbon Action Advisor will calculate your organisation’s carbon footprint – and provide a detailed, but easy to follow report that shows the business activities having the greatest climate impact. This is your benchmark.
Offset
Now you’ve reduced your emissions, choose to offset the rest through local, certified carbon offsetting programmes. We can help you select a programme that aligns with your values and meets your carbon offsetting goals.
Identify
We’ll work with you to create a Carbon Emissions Reduction Plan that outlines the key actions to take to reduce emissions in your business – aligned with the science of limiting global temperature rise to 1.5 degrees.
Communicate
You don’t have to be ‘perfect’ to start communicating your journey to clients, customers and industry partners. We offer support, advice and a communication toolkit to help you share your footprint and emissions reduction commitment.
Act
We’re there to support you as you take action – helping you turn obstacles into opportunities. The label you earn includes the year, so customers know you’re current with your commitments.
Repeat
To stay transparent, get your footprint re-measured each year to map your progress and display the current year’s label.
We’ve developed a robust carbon calculation and reduction methodology – designed specifically for Kiwi-based organisations, and aligned with global best practice.
For conscious consumers
The Climate Action Label makes it easy to spot those Kiwi brands and organisations taking real, measurable actions to combat climate change.

Science based targets modules
Emission reduction strategies are developed in line with Science Based Targets to ensure meaningful reductions occur
-
Carbon verification is when a third-party verification organization inspects a carbon offset programme and ensures it meets its standards.
-
There are several methods to measure carbon emissions, such as conducting a greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory or using carbon footprint calculators. GHG inventories involve collecting data on emissions from various sources within your business operations, such as energy use, transportation, and waste. Carbon footprint calculators are online tools that help estimate emissions based on inputs such as energy usage, transportation, and employee commuting.
-
The best reductions strategies will depend on your business. It usually takes a mix of improving energy efficiency, transitioning to renewable energy sources, optimising transport and logistics, implementing resource conservation, waste reduction and recycling programmes, and promoting sustainable procurement. Getting your team engaged and adopting new behaviours can not only reduce emissions, but support a healthy workplace culture.
