The Climate Action Label

Powered, developed and delivered by Opportune

Measuring, reducing and offsetting carbon emissions can be a minefield for Kiwi businesses. Pros and cons need to be weighed up, risks managed and your actions communicated clearly to your audiences.

A guide to navigating your carbon reduction pathway

The future matters more than the past. We’ll help you understand your options, with experience beyond the theory – including the challenges of running and growing a business, while reducing environmental impact.

We only hire and train people with a strong technical background. So you deal directly with technical experts and auditors who are senior, qualified and experienced. By keeping the process simple and single layered, we can serve you better by being more responsive, cost-effective and efficient. We speak human, and treat you with zero judgment.

Walking our talk

When it comes to reducing our own carbon footprint, we follow the same advice we give our clients. This means measuring our emissions annually and implementing a range of initiatives: replacing staff travel with video calls wherever possible, reducing electricity consumption, and cycling to work.

Rather than offsetting via carbon credits, we donate to charities focused on educating, communicating and taking action on climate change.

The Climate Action Label team is led by Andrew Douglas

Andrew Douglas has been delivering carbon and business advisory and assurance services to organisations in New Zealand, UK and US since 2002 – with many years’ experience in the Big Four professional service firms. He’s led carbon reporting and verification delivery with UK government agency, Carbon Trust, and with Opportune, conducts carbon audits for New Zealand’s local councils and government ministries .

On the list of the New Zealand government’s approved carbon verifiers, Andrew provides carbon accounting and advice to organisations nationwide – public, private and not-for-profit. This includes developing the Climate Action Label – for organisations wanting to demonstrate their action on carbon measurement, reduction and offsetting.
